EXTRA $500 BURSARY FOR ELVIS TRIBUTE SECTION

In addition to the regular Teen Talent Competition, Dancin’ Barefoot has added an extra section for competitors to win the $500 T-Mac Music For Children Bursary. Competitors must pick their favourite Elvis Presley song, and send it in along with your audition. YES, that means you have the opportunity to perform and win TWICE!!! Top 3 Finalists in the Elvis Presley section will have to perform their Elvis Tribute Song at finals as well as their song from other category of their choice. 

Rules and Regulations

  1. The 4th Annual Teen Talent Competition is an event that showcases the talents of young performers in music and dance. This event is open to teens or students ages 11 to 18 from Penticton, Summerland, Peachland, Westbank, Kelowna, Vernon, Salmon Arm and Armstrong.
  1. Contestants allowed one entry in one category per season. Plus the Elvis Tribute Section.

 

  1. If a contestant has previously competed in the Teen Talent Competition and placed in one of the categories, then they may not compete in that category. They may however compete in any of the remaining categories that they have not previously placed.
  1. Individual or group performances are welcome, limit to 5-person act.

 

  1. The performing art categories that students have to choose from include the following:
  1. Vocal (solo, duet, ensemble)
  2. Instrumental (solo, duet, ensemble)
  3. Dance (tap, jazz, modern, ballet, hip hop)

NOTE: The categories listed above are the expected categories of each program but are dependent on the number of performers that register for the contest.

5.   Dancin’ Barefoot reserves the right to add, delete or change categories depending on registration results.

  1. Contestants can perform only one act in the finals and this must be the same act performed in the preliminary auditions per category.

 

  1. Acts can be no longer than 2 minutes for both the preliminary auditions and final competition. Acts running over this time limit in the final competition will have points deducted.
  1. No published or professional artists.

 

  1. Accompaniment CD’s used by singers can contain background vocals only. Absolutely NO LEAD vocals will be allowed.
  1. Dancin’ Barefoot is not responsible for theft/damage or injury of any kind, to persons or instruments, props, clothing, etc., during, before, during or after the performance.

 

Step 1
Preliminary Auditions Deadline – JUNE 15, 2012 

HOW TO AUDITION

Contestants must fill out registration form online and attach link for judges to view audition. Example: Youtube, Myspace, etc.

OR

Fill out form online and mail in CD to Dancin’ Barefoot Music Festival

*Must be video audition not just audio.

  1. Time limit for auditions and final competition is 2 minutes. Must be cut and cued for audition and finals.

 

  1. Same arrangement performed at preliminary audition must be performed for final competition.

 

Step 2

  1. Only the top number of contestants will be contacted and are required to pay a non-refundable fee of $15 per performer to secure spot in competition. Fee must be paid by JUNE 25, 2012 by 5:00 PM or you will lose your spot.

(Anyone wishing for feedback on their audition may contact the Producer directly.)

  1. From the auditions, the semi-finalists will perform at Cousins Park on           Saturday, July 14, 2012 in front of a panel of judges. These judges will consist of experts in the field as well as Astral Media DJ’s.

 

Decision of the Judges is Final
All rules strictly enforced. Any violation will result in immediate disqualification.

NOW WHAT HAPPENS? FINALS!

Finals –Saturday, July 14, 2012 – Cousins Park, Peachland

Step 3

  1. Performers must sign in between 11:00 pm-12:00 pm to receive a number and pass.
  2. First performance starts at 1:00 PM. Please be back in park by 12:45pm.
  3. Performers will be called by name, if you are not there for this call, you will be eliminated.
  4. 2-minute time limit for acts, no exceptions, must have music cued.
  5. All performers must be present for final judgment to receive prizes. If you are not there to receive your prize, it will go to the next finalist.
  6. All acts must be clean, free of profanity and in good taste.
  7. Sound system is provided with the exception of accompaniment music, which must be provided with fee by June 25, 2012 by 5:00pm.
  8. All bands/instrumental must provide a Stage Plot to Dancin’ Barefoot by             June 25, 2012 by 5:00pm.
  9. Accompaniment music used by singers can contain background vocals only. Absolutely NO LEAD vocals will be allowed.
  10. Contestants must remain on stage, as the panel of judges will provide feedback immediately after your performance.
  11.  Panel of Judges will select the finalists after the final act.

 

Adjudication
Judges –          Judges are all well trained in multiple genres of dance or music.

Every effort is made to provide feedback in four main areas: Technique, Choreography, Skill level, Sound Quality & Clarity and Performance.
